Apple Crunch

  
 

 

  

Coffee cream has 20% fat.
Whipping cream has 30% fat.
Heavy cream has 36% fat.

Peel and slice 4 or 5 apples.
Put in baking dish [with] 1/2 cup cold water.

Sprinkle over apples:
cinnamon and grated rind of one lemon.

Blend together:
1 cup flour,
1/2 cup crisco [shortening],
salt,
1 cup sugar.

Put over apples.

Bake uncovered.

Serve with any kind of sauce or cream or as is.

 

Taste and health benefits of Butter, Shortening (Crisco/Spry), and Lard are still hotly debated. Aunt Pit wasn't afraid of any of them.
